For more than 20 years the LDB graduate program has developed well-rounded Chartered Accountants through our commitment to professional development. Our graduates will get the opportunity to work with a range of clients including ASX listed entities; clients based in Silicon Valley, Japan and London; clients across the manufacturing, hospitality, medical, and property development sectors; as well as tech start-ups and gamers.

At LDB, you’ll get hands-on experience and exposure to our large and varied client base.

Our client service comes first and we proactively engage with them at the LDB office, at the clients’ premises, and digitally via technology. Located a 3-minute walk from Blackburn train station and just a 20-minute drive from the CBD, our modern offices accommodate more than 70 staff. As a large multi-disciplined firm with a specialised focus on accounting and advisory, superannuation, audit, wealth solutions and property, we pride ourselves on our culture and work hard to maintain it.

Access training and professional development

To enrich your professional development, we have structured our graduate program to ensure you gain a deeper understanding of LDB’s entire business. With the assistance of your graduate mentor, we will organise secondments to give you the opportunity to work across all areas of our firm.

Our designated Chartered Accountant coordinator will also assist you as you undertake the program, helping you enroll in each subject and coordinate the paid study leave and financial support we offer as we sponsor you through the program.

What do you find most exciting about your role as a graduate accountant at LDB?

The opportunity to gain experience across different departments has been incredibly rewarding. Completing secondments has broadened my understanding of not just my own team but the entire business. LDB truly values building well-rounded professionals, and the close-knit culture here makes learning easy and approachable.

What drew you to accounting?

What fascinates me about accounting is how it provides insight into decision-making beyond just profit and loss. Accounting isn’t just about numbers — it also considers environmental and societal factors, helping businesses make informed, responsible choices that contribute to a better world.

What do you do at LDB?

I work on a diverse range of projects, supporting clients from trusts to companies to individuals. My role has given me extensive client exposure, both online and in person. One of the things I enjoy most is connecting with colleagues across different teams — I’ve networked so much that sometimes it takes me an extra hour to leave the office!

What work have you been most excited by since starting at LDB?

One of the most rewarding projects I’ve worked on involved forecasting the tax and financial implications of a client purchasing a rental property while converting part of their twenty-acre lot into primary production. Being able to provide clients with financial insights that directly impact their decision-making is incredibly fulfilling. It’s rewarding to know that my expertise is helping them make well-informed financial choices.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce (Major in Accounting) – Monash University.

What do you find most exciting about your role as a graduate accountant at LDB?

LDB’s diverse client base gives me exposure to a variety of industries, making each day unique. From handling individual tax matters to managing complex company structures, I’m constantly learning and being challenged. The variety of work keeps things engaging and ensures I develop a well-rounded skill set.

How has LDB supported your professional development as a graduate accountant?

LDB’s “Working as One” philosophy is evident in the mentorship and structured career progression I’ve received. Taking on increasingly complex tasks in a supportive environment has allowed me to grow without feeling overwhelmed. The collaborative culture encourages continuous learning and self-improvement.

What do you find most exciting about your role as a graduate accountant at LDB?

The ability to contribute to real-world financial decision-making while expanding my technical knowledge has been the most exciting part of my role. Working on a variety of client projects ensures that I’m constantly learning and improving, and the collaborative team environment at LDB makes me feel valued and supported.

How has LDB supported your professional development as a graduate accountant?

LDB has provided exceptional professional development opportunities, particularly through the monthly CAANZ training sessions. These sessions keep me updated on regulations and industry standards while reinforcing my learning. The mentorship and hands-on experience I’ve gained here have been crucial to my growth as an accountant.

Currently studying CA Foundations Program.

What do you find most exciting about your role as a graduate accountant at LDB?

I enjoy working in such a dynamic and broad field, where I continuously develop my skills as an accountant. Seeing my progress — understanding complex concepts and applying them in real-world scenarios—is incredibly fulfilling.

How has LDB supported your professional development as a graduate accountant?

LDB’s structured support system, including regular check-ins, mentorship, and access to experienced professionals, has been invaluable. Their willingness to provide guidance and discuss training and study options has helped me feel confident in my career progression.

What do you find most exciting about your role as a graduate accountant at LDB?

The most exciting part of my role at LDB is that each day brings something new as I get the opportunity to work on a variety of client projects across many different industries. These various jobs present challenges and learning experiences to grow my skills and knowledge not only in accounting but also in different departments across the firm including Superannuation and Wealth.

How has LDB supported your professional development as a graduate accountant?

LDB supports graduates through mentorship and collaborative environments to learn and work closely with experienced accountants around me including graduates through to managers and partners of the firm. LDB also provides a valuable support network through regular catchups and check-ins to support and guide our professional careers as accountants.

Graduate requirements

Applicants must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident

Applicants must hold a degree such as a Bachelor of Business/Commerce, with a major in accounting

Applicants that have met the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand requirements will be highly regarded.
